As the world continues to seek sustainable solutions to pressing environmental challenges, the spotlight is increasingly turning to versatile and eco-friendly materials like bamboo and rattan. Recognizing the immense potential of these natural resources, SIBRED is proud to announce its inaugural International Conference on Bamboo and Rattan, known as the ‘Sahelian Africa Congress on Bamboo and Rattan – SACOBAR’.
The center has announced that the conference shall be an annual outreach program of the Sahelian Institute for Bamboo Research and Entrepreneurship Development (SIBRED) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
Set against the backdrop of innovation, collaboration, and environmental stewardship, this landmark event promises to be a gathering of minds dedicated to unlocking the full potential of bamboo and rattan for a greener, more sustainable future.
The theme of this inaugural hybrid program, the SACOBAR2024 is: ‘Bamboo and Rattan Innovations for Entrepreneurship, Livelihoods and Economic Development in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)’
The center calls on all persons, political authorities, policy authorities, university dons, institutions, diplomats, bamboo and rattan entrepreneurs, investors, and farmers from all over the world, to join them in this epoch-making event. The three-day conference is scheduled to start from May 22nd and run through to 25th May 2024, with well-parked events.
The event has an affordable registration cost. The center plans to allow MSc and PhD students to present their conference preprint papers free of charge but they will required to seek travel scholarships if they choose to participate onsite.
